3 Days Masai Mara Wildebeest Migration Safari

When the migration crosses into Kenya, typically between July and October, the Masai Mara becomes one of the most concentrated wildlife spectacles on Earth. This 3-day itinerary is timed to that window. Because this itinerary also includes Ngorongoro Crater, which holds dense wildlife year-round regardless of migration timing, it’s a reasonable choice even in months when the herds’ exact position is less certain.

3 Days Masai Mara Wildebeest Migration Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi to Masai Mara

A transfer into the reserve is followed by an afternoon game drive to locate the herds and any predators active nearby.

Day 2: Full Day Migration Game Drives

Extended game drives cover the reserve in search of the migrating wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle, along with the heightened lion and hyena activity that tends to accompany them during this season. The Serengeti’s northern reaches see noticeably fewer vehicles than the central plains, giving a quieter, less crowded game-viewing experience even during migration season.

Day 3: Morning Game Drive & Return to Nairobi

A final pass through the conservancy at sunrise gives one last chance at any species missed so far, before the drive back to Nairobi. This stretch of grassland is part of what makes the Serengeti’s name fitting, derived from the Maasai word for “endless plains,” a description that holds up especially well here.
