Detailed Itinerary: 16 Days Grand Uganda Safaris from North to South
Days 1–2: Arrival and Kidepo Valley National Park
Arrive at Entebbe International Airport and transfer to your hotel. Begin the safari with a journey to Kidepo Valley National Park, Uganda’s remote savannah. Enjoy afternoon and full-day game drives spotting lions, leopards, elephants, giraffes, and hartebeests. Birdwatching opportunities abound, and panoramic landscapes provide excellent photography. Overnight in Kidepo.
Days 3–4: Murchison Falls National Park
Travel south to Murchison Falls National Park. Embark on morning boat cruises along the Nile River to see hippos, crocodiles, and waterbirds. Afternoon game drives explore savannah plains for elephants, lions, buffalo, giraffes, and antelopes. Optional hike to the top of Murchison Falls offers panoramic views of the river gorge and cascading falls. Overnight near the park.
Days 5–6: Kibale Forest National Park
Drive southwest to Kibale Forest, home to chimpanzees and rich birdlife. Morning chimpanzee trekking allows observation of habituated chimpanzee groups in their natural habitat. Afternoon visits to Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary provide birdwatching and primate spotting, including forest monkeys and turacos. Overnight near Kibale.
Days 7–8: Queen Elizabeth National Park
Travel to Queen Elizabeth National Park via the scenic crater lakes region. Morning and afternoon game drives in Kasenyi plains and Ishasha sector offer sightings of lions, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, Uganda kob, and tree-climbing lions. Afternoon boat cruise along Kazinga Channel for hippos, crocodiles, and abundant birdlife. Overnight near the park.
Days 9–11: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Drive to Bwindi for mountain gorilla trekking. Early morning treks take you into the dense forest to find a habituated gorilla family for a one-hour observation. Optional second gorilla trek or cultural visits to Batwa communities offer additional immersive experiences. Afternoons are for relaxation, photography, and short nature walks. Overnight in Bwindi.
Days 12–13: Mgahinga Gorilla National Park
Transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park in southwestern Uganda. Early morning treks for gorilla or golden monkey tracking provide encounters with rare primates in the bamboo forest. Afternoon forest walks allow observation of montane bird species and capture stunning views of the Virunga volcanoes. Overnight in Mgahinga.
Days 14–15: Lake Mburo National Park and Return to Entebbe
Drive northeast to Lake Mburo National Park. Afternoon walking safaris or boat rides reveal shoebill storks, papyrus gonolek, hippos, and other wetland wildlife. The final day includes scenic drives back to Entebbe with stops for photography and wildlife viewing before transfer to Entebbe International Airport for departure.
