Mountain Elgon is an extinct Volcano that was made many years ago. It is located in the eastern part of Uganda, near the border with Kenya, and its highest peak is Wagagai at 4,321 meters. Mountain Elgon is home to Mount Elgon National Park, which has many animals and birds. It is a great place for camping. Mountain Elgon has many types of beautiful plants, including forest, grassland, groundsel, and heather. There are many types of trees, including Elgon Olive, African Juniper, and Elderberry, among others. Hiking safaris: When you visit Mount Elgon, one of the best and most exciting things to do is hike to the top of the mountain. This is usually done after choosing a road and following it to the top of the mountain. There are resting cottages usually made out of wooden huts with a fixed bed and a washroom hut connected to it to provide accommodation to tourists while they are on a hiking safari. Hiking to the top of Mount Elgon usually takes 1 to 2 days for lower altitudes and 3 to 6 days for higher altitudes. Tourists should check how far they can hike before going on vacation. Tourists should check the weather report for the day to see if it’s safe to go hiking. Mountain rain can be heavy and dangerous. Tourists planning to hike on Mount Elgon should pack plenty of clothes, especially protected ones. They should also bring enough food and drinks to store in waterproof bags.
