5 Days Murchison Falls, Budongo & Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary Safari
August 16, 20264 Days Murchison Falls Sunset Game Drive & Nile Cruise Safari
August 16, 2026The stretch of the Victoria Nile below Murchison Falls is known among anglers for Nile perch, some caught well over 100 pounds, making it one of Africa’s more serious freshwater sport fishing destinations. Fishing permits on the Nile below Murchison Falls are managed separately from standard park entry, and it’s worth checking catch-and-release rules with your operator ahead of time.
3 Days Murchison Falls Sport Fishing & Wildlife Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park
A drive north brings you to the park, with time to settle into your lodge and prepare rods and tackle for the following morning. The return drive from Queen Elizabeth retraces the Ishasha corridor, giving a final chance to scan the fig trees for the sector’s resident tree-climbing lions.
Day 2: Sport Fishing & Afternoon Game Drive
A morning on the Nile with an experienced local fishing guide targets Nile perch and tigerfish, with rods and tackle included. In the afternoon, a game drive across the park’s savannah offers a change of pace. Your guide supplies rods, tackle, and local knowledge of where Nile perch and tigerfish are biting that week, with catch-and-release encouraged to help protect the fishery.
Day 3: Boat Cruise & Departure
A morning boat cruise to the base of the falls rounds out the trip before your driver-guide transfers you back for departure. Sport anglers on this stretch of river most often target Nile perch, though tigerfish, prized for how hard they fight on the line, are also a common catch.
