Detailed Itinerary: 8 Days Gorillas and Masai Mara
Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe
Arrival at Entebbe International Airport and transfer to your hotel. Depending on arrival time, relax or enjoy a brief city orientation.
Evening safari briefing to review the itinerary, safety, and wildlife tips. Overnight in Entebbe.
Day 2: Transfer to Bwindi or Mgahinga Gorilla National Park
Drive southwest to your chosen gorilla trekking park. The journey passes terraced hills, tea plantations, and rural Ugandan villages.
Afternoon at the lodge to rest and prepare for the following day’s gorilla trekking adventure. Overnight in Bwindi or Mgahinga.
Day 3: Gorilla Trekking Adventure
Early morning briefing and departure into the forest to track a habituated gorilla family. Treks may take several hours depending on gorilla locations.
Spend one regulated hour observing the gorillas. Witness silverbacks, mothers with infants, and playful juveniles. Return to the lodge for relaxation.
Day 4: Optional Second Gorilla Trek or Cultural Visit
Option to trek a second gorilla family (subject to permit availability) or engage in a cultural visit to local Batwa or rural communities.
Afternoon at leisure for photography or short nature walks. Overnight at the lodge.
Day 5: Transfer to Kenya – Arrival in Maasai Mara
Drive to the Kenya border and continue to Maasai Mara National Reserve. Cross the scenic Great Rift Valley en route.
Evening relaxation at your safari lodge followed by dinner. Overnight in Maasai Mara.
Day 6: Full-Day Game Drive in Maasai Mara
Morning and afternoon game drives in the expansive plains of Maasai Mara. Expect to see elephants, lions, leopards, cheetahs, buffalo, zebras, and giraffes.
Optional hot air balloon safari over the plains at sunrise for a spectacular aerial wildlife perspective. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 7: Maasai Mara – Optional Activities
Morning game drive to maximize wildlife sightings, particularly predators and migratory herds if visiting during the Great Migration season.
Afternoon at leisure at the lodge or optional cultural visit to a Maasai village to learn about traditional lifestyles and customs. Overnight in Maasai Mara.
Day 8: Return to Nairobi – Departure
After breakfast, drive back to Nairobi. Depending on departure schedule, stop for photo opportunities along the Great Rift Valley escarpments.
Arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for onward international flights concludes the 8-day gorillas and Masai Mara safari.
