Detailed Itinerary: 8 Days Kenya Wildlife Safari
Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi
Arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and transfer to your hotel. Depending on arrival time, relax or enjoy a brief city tour.
Evening safari briefing covering the itinerary, wildlife highlights, and safety measures. Overnight in Nairobi.
Day 2: Transfer to Amboseli National Park
Drive southeast to Amboseli National Park, famous for its large elephant herds and views of Mount Kilimanjaro.
Afternoon game drive in the park’s open plains, spotting elephants, giraffes, zebras, and antelopes. Overnight at a lodge with views of the Kilimanjaro silhouette.
Day 3: Amboseli – Full-Day Game Drive
Morning and afternoon game drives in Amboseli to explore different habitats, including swamps and savannah. Expect sightings of lions, cheetahs, elephants, and diverse bird species.
Optional sundowner in the park to enjoy the African sunset. Overnight at the lodge.
Day 4: Transfer to Lake Naivasha
Drive to Lake Naivasha, part of Kenya’s Great Rift Valley.
Afternoon boat safari on Lake Naivasha to spot hippos, Nile crocodiles, and abundant birdlife including fish eagles. Optional walk on Crescent Island to view giraffes, zebras, and antelopes in close proximity. Overnight at a lakeside lodge.
Day 5: Transfer to Maasai Mara National Reserve
Drive southwest to Maasai Mara National Reserve, Kenya’s premier wildlife destination. The scenic route passes through the highlands and escarpments of the Rift Valley.
Evening at the lodge with optional sundowner views of the plains. Overnight in Maasai Mara.
Day 6: Full-Day Game Drives in Maasai Mara
Morning and afternoon game drives in the Mara’s expansive plains. Look for the Big Five: lions, elephants, leopards, buffalo, and rhinos, as well as cheetahs, giraffes, zebras, and wildebeest.
Optional hot air balloon safari at sunrise for aerial photography and panoramic wildlife views. Return to the lodge for overnight.
Day 7: Maasai Mara – Optional Cultural Visit
Morning game drive to maximize wildlife sightings, particularly predators and large herbivores.
Afternoon optional visit to a Maasai village to learn about traditional lifestyle, customs, and beadwork. Overnight at the lodge.
Day 8: Return to Nairobi – Departure
After breakfast, drive back to Nairobi. Stop at scenic points for photography along the Great Rift Valley escarpment.
