Detailed Itinerary: 8 Days Primates Safari
Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe
Arrive at Entebbe International Airport and transfer to your hotel. Depending on arrival time, relax or enjoy a brief city orientation.
Evening safari briefing covering the itinerary, safety, and primate tracking guidelines. Overnight in Entebbe.
Day 2: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park
Drive southwest to Kibale Forest National Park, renowned for its chimpanzee population and rich primate biodiversity.
Afternoon at the lodge to rest and prepare for the next day’s chimpanzee trek. Optional nature walks around the forest perimeter. Overnight near Kibale.
Day 3: Chimpanzee Tracking in Kibale
Morning chimpanzee trek guided by experienced rangers. Observe the behavior, social interactions, and feeding habits of habituated chimpanzee groups.
Afternoon visit to local communities or the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary for birdwatching and nature walks. Overnight near Kibale.
Day 4: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park via scenic countryside and crater lakes.
Afternoon game drive in the Kasenyi plains. Look for elephants, lions, buffalo, and Uganda kob. Overnight at a lodge near the park.
Day 5: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to mountain gorillas. En route, enjoy terraced hills, tea plantations, and rural villages.
Afternoon at the lodge for rest and preparation for gorilla trekking. Overnight in Bwindi.
Day 6: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi
Early morning briefing and forest trek to track a habituated gorilla family.
Spend one regulated hour observing gorillas. Experience silverbacks, mothers with infants, and playful juveniles. Return to the lodge for relaxation. Overnight in Bwindi.
Day 7: Transfer to Rwanda – Nyungwe Forest National Park
Cross the border into Rwanda and transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park, a montane rainforest rich in primates including chimpanzees, colobus monkeys, and golden monkeys.
Afternoon canopy walk for panoramic forest views and birdwatching opportunities. Overnight near Nyungwe.
Day 8: Chimpanzee or Golden Monkey Trek & Departure
Morning primate trek in Nyungwe Forest to observe chimpanzees or golden monkeys in their natural habitat.
After the trek, transfer to Kigali International Airport for onward international departure, concluding your 8-day primates safari.
