Kyambura Gorge Lodge

Kyambura Gorge Lodge occupies a converted former coffee store perched on the rim of the Kyambura Gorge, a steep-sided rift valley canyon within Queen Elizabeth National Park known locally as the “Valley of the Apes” for the isolated chimpanzee community living in the forest at its base.

Setting

The lodge’s position directly on the gorge edge is its defining feature, with views dropping straight into the forest canopy below. Guided descents into the gorge itself are the main draw, offering chimpanzee tracking in a habitat quite different from the open savanna that makes up most of Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Combining Activities

Because it sits within the wider Queen Elizabeth ecosystem, stays here are usually combined with savanna game drives and Kazinga Channel boat trips in addition to the gorge trekking, giving a genuinely varied few days without changing lodges.
