Detailed Itinerary: 2 Days Murchison Falls Safari
Day 1: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park and Evening Game Drive
Your safari begins with early morning pickup from Kampala or Entebbe followed by a scenic drive toward northwestern Uganda to Murchison Falls National Park. The journey takes you through rural landscapes, local towns, and countryside views, offering insight into everyday life in Uganda.
Along the way, you may stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for guided rhino tracking on foot, providing the opportunity to see white rhinos in their natural environment and contributing to Uganda’s Big Five experience. After lunch, you continue to the national park, crossing the Nile River by ferry or bridge depending on the route.
Upon arrival, you embark on an evening game drive across the savannah plains where wildlife sightings may include elephants, buffalo, giraffes, antelopes, and possibly lions or leopards. The day concludes with dinner and overnight at your lodge overlooking the wilderness.
Day 2: Morning Game Drive, Visit to the Falls, and Return
After an early breakfast, you head out for a sunrise game drive, one of the best times to observe wildlife when animals are most active. The northern sector of the park offers excellent opportunities to spot predators, large herbivores, and numerous bird species across the open savannah landscape.
Later, you visit the top of Murchison Falls, where the Nile River forces its way through a narrow rock gorge before plunging dramatically below. The thunderous sound, misty spray, and powerful scenery create an unforgettable natural spectacle and excellent photography opportunities.
After lunch, you begin the return journey to Kampala or Entebbe, arriving in the evening. The safari concludes with memorable wildlife encounters and the dramatic beauty of one of Africa’s most famous waterfalls.
