Detailed Itinerary: 5 Days Uganda Wildlife and Gorilla Trekking Tour
Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you are welcomed and briefed by your guide before traveling west toward Queen Elizabeth National Park. The drive winds through lush countryside, rolling hills, and traditional villages, providing a scenic introduction to Uganda’s landscapes.
Upon reaching the park, you settle into your lodge and prepare for your first safari activities. The evening is peaceful, with the distant sounds of wildlife from the savannah signaling the start of your adventure.
Day 2: Game Drive and Kazinga Channel Boat Cruise
The day begins early with a morning game drive across the Kasenyi plains. These open savannahs attract herds of elephants, buffalo, Uganda kobs, and warthogs. Lions and leopards may also be sighted during the early hours when predators are most active.
After the morning game drive, enjoy a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, a 32-kilometer waterway linking Lake George and Lake Edward. Hippos wallow along the banks, crocodiles bask in the sun, and numerous bird species—including kingfishers, fish eagles, and herons—line the shores. The boat cruise provides a calm and immersive way to observe wildlife from a unique perspective.
Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight, reflecting on the diversity of the park.
Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After breakfast, you depart Queen Elizabeth National Park and drive south toward Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The road passes through scenic highlands, terraced farmland, and rural villages, offering a glimpse into local life.
Bwindi is home to nearly half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas. Upon arrival at your lodge, you are briefed about gorilla trekking procedures, park rules, and safety guidelines. The evening is spent preparing for the next day’s extraordinary forest encounter.
Day 4: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
An early morning breakfast precedes your trek into Bwindi’s dense rainforest. The trek can vary in length depending on the gorilla family’s location, traversing bamboo thickets, steep slopes, and lush forest understory.
When the gorilla family is located, you are granted one hour in their presence. Observing the dominant silverback, playful juveniles, and nurturing mothers is a profoundly moving experience. The intelligence and gentleness of these primates leave a lasting impression.
After trekking, you return to the lodge to relax, sharing stories of this unforgettable encounter over dinner.
Day 5: Return to Entebbe and Departure
Following breakfast, you begin the journey back to Entebbe, retracing scenic roads through Uganda’s highlands and verdant landscapes. Along the way, you may stop for cultural visits or photographs at scenic viewpoints.
Arrival in Entebbe marks the end of your five-day adventure, leaving you with vivid memories of Uganda’s rich wildlife, majestic gorillas, and breathtaking scenery.
