Detailed Itinerary: 6 Days Uganda Wildlife safari
Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park
Arrival in Entebbe or Kampala followed by a scenic drive north to Murchison Falls National Park. The journey passes rural communities and expansive landscapes before reaching Uganda’s largest protected area.
Upon arrival, enjoy a short visit to the top of Murchison Falls. Here, the Nile River forces its way through a narrow 7-meter gorge before plunging 43 meters below—a dramatic natural spectacle. Overnight at a safari lodge inside or near the park.
Day 2: Game Drive and Nile Boat Cruise
Begin the day with an early morning game drive on the northern bank of the Nile. Expect sightings of elephants, giraffes, buffalo, lions, hartebeests, and Uganda kob across open savannah plains.
In the afternoon, embark on a boat safari along the Nile to the base of the falls. Large pods of hippos, Nile crocodiles, elephants, and diverse waterbirds line the riverbanks, offering outstanding photography opportunities. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast, depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park via the scenic Albertine Rift Valley. The drive offers changing landscapes, crater lakes, and views of the Rwenzori Mountains (weather permitting).
Arrive in the afternoon for relaxation or an optional short evening game drive. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.
Day 4: Game Drive and Kazinga Channel Boat Safari
Start with a sunrise game drive in the Kasenyi plains. This sector is well known for lion sightings, large buffalo herds, elephants, and antelope species. Leopards are occasionally spotted during early morning hours.
In the afternoon, enjoy a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel. The channel hosts one of Africa’s highest concentrations of hippos, along with crocodiles and elephants gathering along the shoreline. Birdwatchers will appreciate the exceptional aquatic birdlife.
Day 5: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park
After breakfast, proceed to Lake Mburo National Park, Uganda’s smallest savannah park but rich in biodiversity. The landscape features rolling hills, acacia woodlands, and scenic lakes.
Enjoy an afternoon game drive or optional walking safari. Lake Mburo is one of the best places in Uganda to see zebras, impalas, elands, and topis up close. Overnight at a lodge overlooking the lake or surrounding hills.
Day 6: Morning Safari and Return to Entebbe
Begin the day with a morning game drive or guided nature walk. The park’s peaceful setting offers excellent opportunities for photography and close wildlife encounters.
After breakfast, return to Entebbe or Kampala for departure, with a stop at the Equator crossing for photos and refreshments.
