Detailed Itinerary: 6 Days in Kidepo and Murchison Falls
Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe and Transfer to Kidepo Valley National Park
Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, meet your guide and take a domestic flight or drive to Kidepo Valley National Park, depending on travel arrangements.
The journey showcases Uganda’s scenic landscapes as you approach the remote northeastern region. Arrive at your lodge or camp in the late afternoon and settle in for dinner. The tranquility of Kidepo, far from crowds, introduces the wild, untouched nature of this park.
Day 2: Full-Day Game Drive in Kidepo Valley National Park
Spend the day exploring Kidepo on game drives across its vast savannahs, riverine valleys, and rocky hills. Early morning and late afternoon are ideal for observing predators such as lions, leopards, and cheetahs.
Herds of elephants and buffalo roam freely, while giraffes, zebras, and antelope species graze across the plains. The remote location offers exceptional wildlife photography opportunities, with few other vehicles to interrupt the wilderness experience.
Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Morning Game Drive and Cultural Visit
Begin with a morning game drive to catch any wildlife missed the previous day or to photograph the park at sunrise.
Afterward, visit local communities such as the Karamojong people to gain insight into traditional pastoral lifestyles and culture. Afternoon relaxation at the lodge provides time to enjoy the expansive views and the peaceful wilderness surroundings.
Day 4: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park
After breakfast, depart Kidepo for the journey south toward Murchison Falls National Park. The drive passes through scenic highlands, rural towns, and agricultural landscapes.
Arrive at your lodge near the Victoria Nile in the afternoon. If time permits, take a short game drive to spot elephants, giraffes, buffalo, and antelope grazing along the riverbanks. Dinner and overnight are at the lodge.
Day 5: Game Drive and Boat Cruise to Murchison Falls
Start the day with an early morning game drive in the park. Murchison Falls is home to lions, leopards, elephants, buffalo, and Uganda kob, as well as numerous bird species.
In the afternoon, take a boat cruise along the Victoria Nile to the base of Murchison Falls. Witness hippos and crocodiles along the river and marvel at the spectacular plunge of the Nile through the narrow gorge.
Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Morning Game Drive and Return to Entebbe
On your final morning, enjoy a short game drive or relax at your lodge. After breakfast, depart Murchison Falls and drive or fly back to Entebbe.
Along the way, you may stop for photographs of scenic landscapes or small cultural encounters. Arrival in Entebbe marks the conclusion of your six-day safari.
