Detailed Itinerary: 9 Days Uganda Gorilla Trek and Tanzania Wildlife Safari
Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe
Arrive at Entebbe International Airport and transfer to your hotel. Depending on arrival time, relax or enjoy a brief orientation.
Evening safari briefing covering the itinerary, wildlife highlights, and safety measures. Overnight in Entebbe.
Day 2: Transfer to Bwindi or Mgahinga Gorilla National Park
Drive southwest to your chosen gorilla trekking park. The scenic route passes rolling hills, tea plantations, and local villages.
Afternoon at the lodge to relax and prepare for gorilla trekking. Overnight in Bwindi or Mgahinga.
Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi or Mgahinga
Early morning briefing followed by trekking into the forest to find a habituated gorilla family. Treks vary in difficulty depending on gorilla location.
Spend one regulated hour with the gorillas, observing silverbacks, mothers, and playful juveniles. Return to the lodge for relaxation. Overnight in Bwindi or Mgahinga.
Day 4: Optional Second Gorilla Trek or Cultural Visit
Option for a second gorilla trekking experience (subject to permit availability) or a guided visit to local Batwa communities.
Afternoon at leisure for photography, nature walks, or lodge relaxation. Overnight in the park.
Day 5: Transfer to Tanzania – Arusha Arrival
Drive to the Uganda–Tanzania border and continue to Arusha, the gateway to northern Tanzania’s wildlife parks.
Evening at the lodge with optional dinner briefing about the Tanzanian safari segment. Overnight in Arusha.
Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater Safari
Drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Descend into the crater for a full-day game drive.
Observe abundant wildlife, including lions, elephants, buffalo, zebras, and possibly black rhinos. Picnic lunch inside the crater. Return to your lodge on the crater rim for overnight.
Day 7: Transfer to Serengeti National Park
Drive to Serengeti National Park, the legendary wildlife reserve.
Afternoon game drive in the central Serengeti, observing large herds of wildebeest, zebras, and predators in the plains. Overnight at a safari lodge or camp.
Day 8: Full-Day Serengeti Game Drives
Morning and afternoon game drives to maximize sightings of Big Five and other wildlife.
Optional hot air balloon safari at sunrise for aerial views of the Serengeti ecosystem. Overnight in the park.
Day 9: Return to Arusha – Departure
After breakfast, drive back to Arusha. Depending on your flight schedule, enjoy scenic stops along the way.
Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha airport for onward international departure concludes the 9-day Uganda gorilla and Tanzania wildlife safari.
