Detailed Itinerary: 6 Days Tanzania Wildlife Safari
Day 1: Arrival in Arusha
Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfer to your lodge in Arusha. After a safari briefing by your guide, the remainder of the day is reserved for rest and preparation for the journey ahead.
Day 2: Arusha to Tarangire National Park
After breakfast, depart for Tarangire National Park, renowned for its large elephant herds and ancient baobab trees. The park’s Tarangire River attracts wildlife year-round, particularly during the dry season.
Enjoy a full-day game drive with picnic lunch inside the park. Expect sightings of elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, and predators such as lions. In the late afternoon, transfer to your lodge or tented camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Tarangire to Serengeti National Park
Following breakfast, journey toward Serengeti National Park via the Ngorongoro highlands. The drive itself is scenic, offering panoramic views and glimpses of Maasai villages along the way.
Upon entering the Serengeti, enjoy an afternoon game drive across the endless plains. The park is famous for its high predator density and, seasonally, the Great Migration of wildebeests and zebras. Dinner and overnight at your camp in the Serengeti.
Day 4: Full-Day Game Drive in Serengeti
A full day is dedicated to exploring Serengeti’s vast ecosystems. Early morning and late afternoon game drives maximize wildlife sightings, particularly of lions, cheetahs, and leopards.
Depending on the season, you may witness the Great Migration or dramatic predator-prey interactions. The Serengeti’s open savannah provides exceptional photography opportunities and immersive wildlife experiences.
Day 5: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Conservation Area
After a morning game drive, depart for the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. En route, optional visits to Olduvai Gorge (at additional cost) provide insight into early human history.
Arrive at the crater rim lodge in the afternoon. The elevated vantage point offers spectacular sunset views over the Ngorongoro Crater, preparing you for the following day’s descent.
Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater Tour and Departure
Descend early into the Ngorongoro Crater for a half-day game drive. The crater floor supports one of Africa’s highest concentrations of wildlife, including black rhinos, lions, elephants, buffalo, and large flocks of flamingos near Lake Magadi.
After a picnic lunch inside the crater, return to Arusha for onward departure.
