Bwindi Gorilla Sectors Uganda: Situated on the rift valley’s edge in the southwest of Uganda, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a well-liked safari location in Africa for mountain gorilla trekking. Nonetheless, the primary activity carried out here is mountain gorilla trekking, which may be done in the park’s east, north, and south gorilla trekking sectors. Each section offers a varied trekking experience and level of accessibility.
There are 21 habituated gorilla families in Bwindi, which are divided into four areas. Trekking in one of these four sectors is an option, despite the various locations. A visit is worthwhile. Sector of Buhoma
Situated on the northern side of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, this sector is one of four gorilla sectors in the park. When compared to other Bwindi sectors, the Buhoma sector receives the most visitors. One gorilla family was habituated in 1992 when the area was designated as a national park, making Buhoma the first sector to be formally accessible for tourists.
The closest place to Buhoma is Queen Elizabeth National Park, which is easily accessible by Ishasha Sector, which is home to the well-known tree-climbing lions. This is the ideal route for tourists to have the opportunity to experience the Far East and South’s tree-climbing lions.
From the first tourists to visit the region when it was first opened for tourism, Buhoma has a commendable past. The Kampala-Mbarara route, which connects Mbarara, Ntungamo, Rukungiri, and Buhoma, provides easy access to Buhoma. An alternative is to take a plane from Kajjansi Airstrip or Entebbe International Airport to Kihihi Airstrip.
There are 24 gorilla permits given in this area per day for the three gorilla families, with a daily maximum of eight individuals allowed each trek.
Sector of Ruhija
Tourists hike through the Ruhija sector, which is located on the eastern side of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and is home to several gorilla families, including the Bitukura, Kyaguliro, and Oruzogo groups. The area is among the coldest in Bwindi, with a height of 2,350 meters above sea level.

Sector of Nkuringo
Due to its higher elevation, Nkuringo Sector necessitates physical fitness. Gorilla trekking is conducted there, and the Nkuringo and Bushaho families call it home. You can choose from a variety of lodging options in Nkuringo.
Sector of Rushaga
This sector, which is home to five completely habituated gorilla families, is located in the southern region of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. They are Bweza, Nshongi, Kahungye, Mishaya, and Busingye, but two are set aside for the purpose of training mountain gorillas to become accustomed to humans. Bikyingi and Bushaho are currently undergoing a one- to two-year training process.

The price of a gorilla permit is USD 800 for non-foreigners, USD 700 for foreigners, and UGX 300,000 for East African citizens. Additionally, we urge our clients to always reserve their gorilla permits six months prior to their intended arrival date on Pearl of Africa, Uganda. After breakfast, gorilla trekking begins early in the morning.
After that, you’ll be taken to the park headquarters for a briefing. You will trek with the gorilla family that day after meeting the park ranger who will direct you there. But make sure you have everything you need, including packed lunchboxes, energy snacks, rain jackets, rubber boots, and enough of minerals. Please be aware that gorilla trekking is erratic and can take anywhere from 30 to 8 hours, depending on the animals’ natural movements. As soon as you locate them, you have an hour to watch them, learn about their social lives, and take pictures.
People under the age of 15 are not permitted to hike these critically endangered mountain gorillas, and the minimum age requirement for gorilla trekking experiences is 15 years old.
Finally, it takes nine to ten hours to drive from Kampala to the major attraction, which is Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. A charter flight or itinerary from Entebbe Airport to Kihihi Airstrip within 1:30 hours is an alternative.
