Near the boundary with Rwanda, Lake Bunyonyi is situated in southwest Uganda between two districts of Kisoro and Kabale. People say that Bacuranuka island is upside down since an old lady cursed it in the past; it is thought that the old lady arrived to the island and discovered men brewing locally known as the “obushera” in the local tongue. She had to ask the men to give some of the local brew, but they refused and offered to give her aside to the mainland.
